Export / Import

Latner provides a tool for exporting and importing data, which can be useful for bulk updates or for retrieving information when needed. While these features are powerful, they should be used carefully to avoid creating incorrect or inconsistent records.

Exporting Data

Exporting allows you to generate a data sheet containing the records from a module. This is helpful when you need:

  • A snapshot of information for review or analysis

  • A template for preparing bulk imports

  • A way to update existing records in bulk

Important: Information should primarily be accessed and used within Latner itself. Exporting should be reserved for occasional needs, not as a replacement for reporting or day‑to‑day workflows.

If you require data or reporting that will be used heavily, please submit a ticket to Latner Support to discuss your requirements.

Importing Data

Importing allows you to add or update records in bulk. To ensure accuracy, you must first export a data sheet from the relevant module. This guarantees that the column headings match the system’s requirements.

  • Creating new records: You do not need to include an ID. The system will generate one automatically.

  • Updating existing records: You must include the ID from the export so the system knows which records to update.

This process ensures that data is aligned with Latner’s structure and prevents duplication or errors.

Safe Use and Best Practices

  • Always start with an export before attempting an import.

  • Double‑check that your data matches the exported headings exactly.

  • Use imports for huge bulk updates or additions, not for everyday data entry.

  • Consult with Latner before performing large or complex imports to ensure the process is safe for your use case. If in doubt, submit a ticket to Latner Support for guidance.
